It is amazing how fast and how much things have changed, I learn something new every day about internet marketing. Trying to figure out what area of marketing to use next is always a dilemma. Being open to these new ideas and keeping up has to be the key.

That’s a well done video with some very interesting stats. The ease of use or should I say ease of access of social media makes it attractive, but there are people making huge mistakes.

Social media should be an adjunct to your efforts, not the core. I see way too many people who use a free blogging service, combined with free social media sites, and somehow think they have a business. They don’t.

I know of way too many instances where the rules changed (think Totlol) or were misunderstood, or blogs were deleted by the hundreds. All roads should lead to your own site that you control.

In addition, direct traffic from social media, in many cases, does not convert well at all. Social sites themselves generally have horrible click through and conversion rates (and often so do blogs) compared to a content site.

I will be amazing to see the same video updated in 10 years time. I have been away from web design for three years and discovered that a site on its own is now no longer a viable commercial proposition it was then. now twitter, Youtube, Flickr, and a blog are mandatory. what is amazing is that these services are FREE you just need to learn how to use them and how they interact with each other.

Hi there,
If you take a look at our website you’ll see that only a small portion of it is devoted to pet products. The website lists products that are handmade in the UK – not mass produced. It has only been live since the beginning of March – is doing really well – but we are struggling to get small pet businesses to list their products in our pet category. So at the moment, this is where I’m hoping we can perhaps work together? Once we have a good diversity of pet products – then we’ll be looking to drive pet-lovers to the site to hopefully buy.
I’d be interested to learn how you can help promote our pet section of http://www.wowthankyou.co.uk to UK-based small businesses that handmake pet products (incl such things as homebaked dog biccies etc).?

Great post – social media is a fantastic way to generate new leads for potential buyers. It is also a lot of fun interacting with all the new people.
